Wilmington school undergoes transformation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington school is going through a transformation right now, as students prepare to walk through its doors for their first day of classes in just a few weeks.

D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy, formerly a New Hanover County middle school, will soon reopen as a K-8 lab school.

UNCW has partnered with New Hanover County Schools in an attempt to improve student performance and enhance educational programming.

Today, volunteers worked all around the school to revive the old purple paint and add a splash of teal.

The new and improved D.C. Virgo will open July 18.
