Wilmington veterans can get free VA claims assistance Friday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Veterans in the Wilmington area will have an opportunity Friday to learn more about VA benefits and receive free assistance with filing or updating claims.
Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 Wilmington will host a National Service Officer Seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the DAV Wilmington Chapter 11 building at 4601 Park Ave.
The seminar will provide information about VA benefits and programs available to eligible veterans.
Free professional claims assistance will be available from 1 to 4 p.m. Veterans can receive help filing a new VA claim or updating an existing one.
Veterans planning to receive claims assistance are encouraged to bring a copy of their DD Form 214, current VA rating decision letters, service medical records and any relevant documentation from private physicians.
“Understanding your VA benefits can make a meaningful difference for veterans and their families,” DAV Chapter 11 Wilmington leadership said. “We encourage veterans who have questions about their benefits or claims to come out, get informed, and take advantage of the assistance available.”
The seminar is open to veterans seeking information about benefits, help with claims or guidance navigating the VA system.
The benefit seminar runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with claims assistance available from 1 to 4 p.m.
