Wilmington woman turns recycled materials into spooky Halloween decorations
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One Wilmington woman is proving that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get into the Halloween spirit, transforming everyday materials into homemade spooky decorations.
WWAY’s Cicily Hammers visited the home of Jacey Rogers on Spargo Place in Wilmington, where Halloween decorating has become an annual tradition.
For the past 11 years, Rogers has created Halloween displays using reusable materials, including old box springs, cardboard and other scraps.
Instead of throwing those materials away, Rogers gives them new life as Halloween decorations.
Rogers said she enjoys decorating because of the excitement it brings to her neighborhood.
“The kids and the neighbors look forward to it each year and I love decorating,” Rogers said.
Her handmade decorations have become something neighbors and children look forward to seeing each Halloween season.
With Halloween approaching Saturday, Oct. 31, WWAY is inviting viewers to share their own spooky decorations.
WWAY may visit more decorated homes throughout the week as Halloween gets closer.
