UPDATE: Wilmington bank robber may have held up SC bank yesterday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington bank was robbed this morning for the second time in six weeks. It happened at the NewBridge Bank at 704 S. College Road just after 10 a.m.

Police say a petite white woman about 5’4″ handed the teller a note. Investigators say she did not show a weapon, but got an undisclosed amount of money. Witnesses say she walked away toward McAlister’s Deli.

Investigators believe the woman may have robbed a bank in Horry County (photo right) Monday.

The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a bank robbery at the NewBridge Bank, 704 S. College Road. The call was dispatched at 10:13 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

According to witnesses, a woman entered the bank and approached the counter. She passed a threatening note, and the bank employee handed over cash. The woman left through the front door and was last seen on foot heading south.

The robber is described as a white female, wearing a black t-shirt, white pants and over-sized sunglasses. She had long black hair that may have been a wig. Images from a bank camera may be released later today.

The same bank was robbed less than two months ago on August 26, 2010. The male suspect was arrested the next day.
