Wilmington’s Municipal Golf Course renovations a go

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Applause met one unanimous Wilmington City Council vote Tuesday night.

They’re going forward with the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course restoration. Council members also decided it was best to do it all at once. So, crews will fix the greens, practice greens and fairway bunkers.

City spokeswoman Malissa Talbert says that will cost about $1.1 million. The money will come from golf course capital funds, park bond funds and increased greens fees.

Construction should begin later in April.

The 18-hole course was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 and the greens have never had a complete restoration since the course was built.
