Wilson Center announces trio of new shows for early next year

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College announced three new performances today, set to take the stage this winter in Wilmington.

The lineup includes a live concert screening of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, stand-up comedian Amber Autry and Grammy-winning trumpeter Chris Botti.

William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet Film in Concert
Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2027, at 7 p.m.

The production will feature Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film Romeo + Juliet with the movie’s original dialogue and action accompanied by musicians performing the score and music live.

The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes and is based on William Shakespeare’s play.

Amber Autry
Saturday, Jan. 30, 2027, at 7:30 p.m.

Nashville-based comedian Amber Autry will bring her Happy Holler Tour to the Wilson Center.

Autry has performed nationally and has appeared on Peacock, Drybar Comedy and Don’t Tell Comedy. She has also performed alongside comedians including Nate Bargatze, Whitney Cummings, Fortune Feimster and Tim Meadows.

Chris Botti
Sunday, Feb. 28, 2027, at 7 p.m.

Grammy-winning trumpeter Chris Botti will return to the Wilson Center for a performance featuring acoustic jazz and classic standards.

Botti has worked with artists including Sting, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. His latest project, Vol. 1, marks a return to his jazz roots and features a small-group format.

Tickets for all three shows will be available to Wilson Center members beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m.
