Woman accused of selling prescription pills outside courthouse


COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Whiteville woman is accused of selling prescription pills to someone undercover in the parking lot of the Columbus County courthouse.

Amanda Grant Cartrette was there for a Superior Court hearing on an unrelated matter on March 7. Deputies say Cartrette left her court hearing and met an undercover operative just outside the courthouse. She then allegedly sold Adderall and Suboxone tablets.

Cartrette was arrested Wednesday and is in the Columbus County Law Enforcement Center under a $30,000 secured bond. Deputies say the investigation began from community complaints.

1 felony count of Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance
1 felony count of Sell/Deliver Schedule III Controlled Substance
1 felony count of Possession with the Intent to Manufacture, Sell and/or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance
1 felony count of Possession with the Intent to Manufacture, Sell and/or Deliver Schedule III Controlled Substance
