Woman airlifted after assault in Bladen County, man facing attempted murder charge

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — A Bladen County man is facing multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, after deputies say a woman was found with life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday to the 3500 block of Peanut Plant Road in Elizabethtown after receiving a report about a suspicious person who appeared to have been assaulted.
When deputies arrived, they found a woman with multiple injuries and severe head trauma.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and officials determined the victim needed to be airlifted because of her injuries.
Investigators later identified the suspect as 37-year-old David Wayne Parks of Elizabethtown.
Parks was arrested and charged with:
- Felony attempted first-degree murder
- Felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
- Felony first-degree kidnapping
- Felony assault by strangulation
- Felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury
- Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
- Misdemeanor communicating threats
- Five counts of misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury with a minor present
- Five counts of misdemeanor child abuse
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident was domestic-related.
Parks was taken to the Bladen County Detention Center, where he was given no bond.
