Workout honors fallen troops
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — CrossFit Coastal debuted the 31 Heroes workout to honor the 31 brave warriors who were killed when their helicopter was shot down last month.
On August sixth, 31 American troops, including members of the elite SEAL Team Six died in Afghanistan.
Saturday, dozens of men and women hit the gym to honor those who gave their lives. The 31 Heroes workout included rope climbs, box jumps, running with weights and lifting weights for 31 minutes.
“It was tough. It definitely was something that was a good workout to do in honor of those that fought for their lives for our country,” Melissa Ohlson said after completing the workout. “Quite intense to be honest with you, but it was cool that it was a team effort. It was nice to sort of split up the workout and get a chance to support one another while we’re working out, push each other.”
Ohlson said the workout was a good reminder of how much training men and women in uniform go through and also a good way to experience a piece of the perseverance and teamwork they must have in place.
