Man charged for firing shots on Queen Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police responded to shots being fired near the 800 block of Queen Street early this morning.

Officers were patrolling on foot when they heard gunfire around 2:30 a.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found Martinez Gomez Manley. After searching Manely and his car, officers discovered a handgun under his seat. Shell casings recovered at the scene were the same as those remaining in the gun. Manley admitted to firing the gun and was detained by police.

A resident of the area reported a round struck his home, but police say no one was injured. Manley was charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property and carrying a concealed weapon.
