Wrightsville Beach police chief says all officer positions filled

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Wrightsville Beach police chief covered everything from crime stats to staffing concerns in his ‘Chat with the Chief’ Thursday evening.

Chief Dan House said while they’ve seen a decrease in assaults and violent crimes from last year but they have seen a 16% increase in larcenies.

However, House said they are making strides in the department especially now that they are fully staffed. He said it took some time to fill those positions.

“I mean you’re looking at about close to six months before you can actually put them on the road as an officer working on their own, so it’s a very long process and it’s a lot of work,” said House.

House said all 25 officer positions are filled.
