WWAY says goodbye to Ashley Jacobs

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s a sad day at WWAY, as we say goodbye to Good Morning Carolina anchor Ashley Jacobs.

Ashley’s husband Nick recently earned a promotion to Warrant Officer in the US Marine Corps. As a result, he, along with Ashley and their two young kids, have been transferred to Camp Pendleton outside San Diego.

Ashley joined the WWAY family in February 2012. She left us at the end of the year, as the commitments of being a military wife meant she needed more time at home. Soon, though, the siren’s song of TV news brought her home to us again, as she returned to the GMC anchor desk in August.

We all thought she’d be here for a long time, as it looked like Nick would be at Camp Lejeune for a while. But life doesn’t always work out the way you planned, and while we are sad to see them go, it’s tough to be too upset saying goodbye to a family that has devoted itself to service to our country. It’s people like them that we all need to be grateful to and thankful for.

We will certainly miss Ashley, her contagious laugh, her loveable goofiness and those funny moments when her Midwest accent pops up. You can take the girl out of Ohio, but you can never take Ohio out of the girl!

Please join us in wishing Ashley and her family all the best. She has certainly given us that during her time here.
