WWAY speaks with former Williston High students about Dr. King
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It was 50 years ago Wednesday that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis.
Dr. King was scheduled to come to Wilmington, but was killed before his trip to the Port City.
Hundreds came to honor Dr. King at an event Wednesday night at Williston Middle School.
WWAY’s Amanda Fitzpatrick spoke with former Williston High School students at the event.
Barbara Ferguson Kamara also graduated from Williston High School. She later joined the Peace Corps and spent many years working in Washington, DC.
