WWAY’s Tomika Jackson competes at “UNCW’s Dancing with the Seahawks”
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — The third annual “Dancing with the Seahawks” fundraiser returned Saturday, bringing a variety of dance moves.
At the UNCW Warwick Center, dozens gathered around the dance floor as participants — including WWAY’s Tomika Jackson — performed.
Judges rated each performance, with participants completing two rounds of dancing.
Jackson said that regardless of whether she wins or loses, she had a lot of fun.
“This was worth it. In a couple of weeks, I’ll be 50. This challenged me in a lot of ways — to be disciplined, to learn something new, to step outside the box,” Jackson said. “There were times I wanted to cry and definitely times I wanted to throw in the towel, but it was well worth it. I’m excited about the money that was raised.”
Proceeds will go to UNCW’s women’s basketball team to support the student-athlete experience and strengthen the team’s competitive resources.
