YMCA, Coastal Horizons offer free summer memberships tied to teen mental wellness workshops
WILMINGTON, N.C. — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is once again partnering with Coastal Horizons to support teen mental wellness through a summer membership program.
Teens who complete a Coastal Horizons Mental Wellness Workshop will qualify for a free YMCA summer membership.
To launch the initiative, Coastal Horizons will host two free mental wellness workshops on Sunday, May 31, at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina Association Office, located at 921 Princess St. in Wilmington.
Organizers say the program is designed to help teens navigate stress, social pressures and everyday challenges while building connections with others in the community.
“So that sense of community for teens to come together to be able to connect over shared sports or interests or whether that’s exercising, swimming or sports or reaction, the Y just offers a lot of those benefits,” said Sarah Gibbs, Vice President of Development at YMCA Southeastern North Carolina.
Participating teens will receive complimentary memberships to the Nir Family YMCA and the Midtown YMCA during regular operating hours. The memberships will be valid from June 1 through Aug. 31.
