YWCA to honor Women of Achievement
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The YWCA’s Women of Achievement event is celebrating its 28th year tomorrow. The event will honor 67 women around the Port City who were nominated, including our own Cacky Catlett.
Chairwoman Amy Mangus says Cacky was nominated in the communications category for her work at WWAY. She says it’s inspiring for women like Cacky to be nominated and people in the community look up to her.
“I’ve always been a news junky and look up to people in the news field, and I think women like Cacky and other reporters who are again working in a male-dominated field, who are excelling and doing a great job exposing different aspects to the community and highlighting achievements to the community, I think is important as a nominee,” Mangus said.
Funds raised at the event go to the YWCA’s programming.
The event is at the Wilmington Convention Center tomorrow starting at 5 p.m.
