Wallace-Rose Hill head football coach Joey Price steps down
TEACHEY, NC (WCTI) – Wallace-Rose Hill head football coach Joey Price, who led the Bulldogs to their third straight state title in 2016 and fifth since 2009, has stepped down from his position.
Price made the announcement Wednesday morning. Several media outlets also posted the news to Twitter.
“I’m retiring,” Price said in a text message to NewsChannel 12’s Brian North. “Nothing wrong. Been a great run in a great community. It’s just time.”
Price, who coached Wallace-Rose Hill for eight seasons, came to the school from South Columbus High School, where he was coach for 12 years. In 20 seasons as a coach, he has a 238-42 overall record and six state championships, five at Wallace-Rose Hill (2009, 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016).
Thank you Coach Price for continuing the Bulldog Football Tradition and raising the bar for the future!

The Bulldogs became the fifth program in Class 1-A to win three or more straight state titles since the N.C. High School Athletic Association made the change to four classifications in 1972. Wallace-Rose Hill beat West Montgomery 30-7 in the Class 1-AA state title game on Dec. 16.
