‘American Idol’ to return on ABC

“American Idol” is returning to television, and you’ll be able to watch it on WWAY ABC.

It was announced on “Good Morning America” that abc will revive the singing competition for the 2017-18 TV season.

Details on when it will specifically air, as well as host and judges, were not released.

At one time “Idol” was a ratings juggernaut for Fox. It produced such stars as Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood. But ratings started to fade, and Fox pulled the plug on the show in 2016 after 15 seasons.

Singers featured on the show have gone on to win 14 GRAMMYs, two Golden Globes and an Academy Award. They’ve generated more than 450 No. 1 Billboard hits.
