This year The annual 31-Cent Scoop Night benefits the New Hanover County Firefighter's Association Scholarship Fund. It helps firefighters and their families go back to school and further their education.

Columbus County moves to electronic warrant system

The new computerized system, which starts tomorrow, lets officers print criminal processes for warrants, orders for arrests and summons when they're needed. That way, they won't have to carry around a bunch of unnecessary paperwork.
