Artificial reef project advances in Oak Island

Carolina Beach looks to purchase land for pier, holds public meeting Tuesday

The Town of Carolina Beach will hold a public meeting Tuesday night to consider the purchase of property to build a pier for the North Carolina Aquarium system. The price tag is just more than $4 million for the property, which totals more than two acres.

A Brunswick County woman who once ran for lieutenant governor has died. Margaret Taylor Harper died Sunday in Durham from complications after a stroke. She was 92.
