Buzz Peterson's family on the road again

videoFor the last four years Buzz Peterson has been a Wilmington resident. As of Thursday that's no longer the case. The former UNCW men's head basketball coach moved his family to the Charlotte area. Peterson will be working with the NBA Charlotte Hornets down the road. This means his son, Rob, will not be playing for Laney in the upcoming basketball season.

Hornets draft Noah Vonleh, acquire P.J. Hairston & unveil new court all in one day

videoThursday was a busy day for Wilmington native Michael Jordan. The owner of the Charlotte Hornets somehow ended up with former UNC Tar Heel P.J. Hairston despite Hairston being drafted by the Miami Heat. The Hornets also unveiled their new court on Thursday.

Former Hoggard pitcher picks up win for Sharks; Hornets unveil new uniforms

videoHoggard graduate Joe O'Donnell picked up his second win of the season on the mound on Thursday for the Wilmington Sharks. In front of one of the largest crowds of the season the Sharks beat Morehead City. Michael Jordan won't be suiting up for the Charlotte Hornets, but his team will at least look sharp. The Hornets unveiled their new uniforms on Thursday. In Pinehurst a 6th grader won over the crowd with an impressive round at the U.S. Open and a few licks of ice cream during her media conference.

Spurs blister Heat in game 3

The San Antonio Spurs got off to a great start on Tuesday night against the Miami Heat. The Spurs ending up cruising to a convincing win over Miami in game 3 of the NBA Finals. WWAY TV will be airing every game of the San Antonio-Miami series.

Bobcats officially become Hornets in Charlotte

NC State's T.J. Warren to enter NBA draft

North Carolina State sophomore T.J. Warren is entering the NBA draft. In a statement released by the school Tuesday, the Atlantic Coast Conference's player of the year said he had "a fun ride" but was ready for the NBA.

videoChampions! Boston defeated St. Louis 6-1 on Wednesday night to win the World Series. It's the first fall classic title for Boston in their home ballpark in 95 years. Laney, Hoggard, Whiteville, South Brunswick and East Bladen won first round state playoff games in soccer on Wednesday. East Bladen is this week's football team of the week. The UNCW men's basketball team won by 50 in exhibition play o Wednesday. Plus more!
