WWAY's Wednesday night sports - July 3

The Wilmington Hammerheads took an early lead against the first place Orlando City Lions on Wednesday. Wilmington lost the lead, but they didn't lose the game. The squads played to a 2-2 draw. videoCody Zeller spent Friday afternoon visiting the facilities for the Charlotte Bobcats. Zeller was the fourth overall selection in Thursday's NBA Draft. videoFormer New Hanover basketball standout Kenny Gattison has been named as an assistant basketball coach for the Pheonix Suns. Gattison played for Phoenix from 1986-1989. Commissioner John Swofford put the ACC in the spotlight for a news conference at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. The Wilmington Sharks dropped a close baseball game at home against Morehead City. Former UNCW Seahawk Keith Rendleman appears to be through with his NBA pre-draft workouts. Rendleman hopes to his hear his name at Thursday's NBA Draft. The Wilmington Sharks picked up a road win in extra innings on Monday. We had highlights! Chicago wins the Stanley Cup in hockey.

Wilmington's pro soccer squad defeated the New York Red Bulls reserves on Saturday night. The Fred Lynch Invitational tips off tomorrow. videoThe Arizona Cardinals wrapped up mini-camp on Thursday. Wilmington's Jonathan Cooper continues to be impressive on the offensive line. The US Open Golf Tournament has been plagued by two rain delays. The first round will be completed on Friday. The Wilmington Sharks had a comfortable lead on Thursday, but the lead evaporated once the bullpen took over. Miami beat San Antonio on Thursday. It's now 2-2 in the NBA Finals. Plus more!

UNC and NC State will be meeting each other in college baseball at least one more time this season. This time it's going to be on the big stage in Omaha.
