1 dead, 2 hurt in shooting in Kinston neighborhood

KINSTON, N.C. (AP) – Police say one person is dead and two others wounded after a shooting in a Kinston neighborhood.

Tuesday’s shooting occurred around 1:25 p.m.

Officer Woody Spencer says the shots were fired into a vehicle, but he wouldn’t say if all three victims were in that vehicle. One of the victims was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, while the other victim was transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

None of the shooting victims has been identified and no arrests have been made in the case.

There was a second shooting in front of a church, but it’s not known if that shooting is related to the earlier incident. Police say no one was hurt in the second shooting.
