13-year-old NC boy dies after jump into reservoir
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. (AP) – Authorities in Caswell County say a
13-year-old middle school student is dead after rescue personnel
found him in a reservoir.
The Caswell County sheriff’s office said Damien Farmer was
pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at Danville Regional Medical
Center in Virginia. His body was taken to Roanoke, Va., for an
autopsy.
Sheriff’s officials said Farmer jumped into a reservoir behind
the Yanceyville Water Plant on Tuesday. Officers responded to a
call and tried to find the teen. Because of the cold, deep water,
deputies couldn’t find the teenager. The Danville Rescue Dive Team
arrived and found the boy’s body in about 24 feet of water.
The sheriff’s office did not say why Farmer was at the
reservoir, but foul play is not suspected in his death.
