1,500 gallons of untreated wastewater spills in Leland

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A contractor installing telecommunication facilities damaged a force main, which caused an estimated 1,500 gallons of untreated wastewater to discharge.

According to a news release from the Town of Leland, it happened today in front of 1210 Grandiflora Drive.

The untreated wastewater was discharged into a catch basin that drains to Jackeys Creek. The damaged line has been repaired and service restored.

The Division of Water Resources was notified and is reviewing the matter.
