15th Annual Polish Festival is one for the bucket list

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Pierogi and polka lovers alike filled St. Stanislaus Catholic Church’s parking area in Castle Hayne for the 15th Annual Polish Festival this weekend.

Guests enjoyed delicious Polish food like the famous kielbasa and sauerkraut and danced the day away to polka music played by live bands.

The event brought people from all over the country who wanted to get back to their Polish roots and have fun with the family. The festival was even at the top of one woman’s bucket list.

Caroline Niemczura is 90 years old. She came to the festival all the way from California.

“For seven years they come to the Polish Festival, always invited me, but I was never able to make it, and this year I did,” she said. “That was on my bucket list. No. 3 on my bucket list.”

Niemczura says she always wanted to come to the Polish Festival with her family, and she’s happy she did. The next stop on her bucket list is New Zealand to see her niece.
