$162 K for more sod for Municipal Golf Course restoration

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington City Council approved using more money for the Municipal Golf Course Renovation.

Council members gave $162,000 more to buy more sod. Rain washed out many areas where crews had hand-planted grass stems.

Crews said it’s no longer an option to re-plant, even though it would be cheaper, because they have to give their grass enough time to grow before the course re-opens in October.

The money is left over from the 2006 parks bond.
