Child pornographer must also pay $1.6 million in restitution

A Burgaw man already sentenced to 60 years in prison for making child porn must also pay more than $1 million for his crimes.

A federal judge ordered Dennis Johnston to pay $1,662,930 in restitution. Investigators say Johnston repeatedly abused two children for six years until his arrest in 2008. They say he also videotaped and photographed the boy and girl during the forced acts. The boy was eight when the abuse started, and the girl had just turned five.

Johnston received his 60-year prison sentence back in December.
