18 local McDonalds employees get $500 scholarship

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than 15 local McDonalds employees earned a scholarship to help further their education.

Owner/Operators Dennis Anderson and David Anderson awarded 18 deserving employees a $500 scholarship last week.

Since 2007, Anderson has made a $500 scholarship available to employees of each of his restaurants and to date more than $200,000 has been awarded to qualifying employees.

Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: employees must be a high school graduate, college student or returning student attending or planning to attend a two or four year accredited College, University, vocational or technical school.  Employees must be employed for at least four months and work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

“It is an honor to be part of these amazing people’s future.  They have demonstrated leadership and ability and will help lead us to success in the future.  I am proud they are part of the McDonald’s Family”, said Dennis Anderson.
