19-year-old charged with raping girl he met online

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Bladen County Sheriff’s deputies have charged a 19-year-old man with raping a child he met online.

Investigators say Michael Shavon McLaurin, of 863 Browntown Road, was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of statutory rape, one count of solicitation of a child by computer and one count of abduction of a child. They say McLaurin had sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl February 18.

The Sheriff’s Office says McLaurin and the girl met on Facebook and began chatting. Deputies say after a couple of months, the two began texting with the texts becoming sexual in nature. McLaurin picked the 13-year-old girl up and drove her to his grandmother’s home, where they had sex, investigators say.

McLaurin is in the Bladen County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
