2 men drown after cracked paddle boat takes on water

MITFORD, SC (AP) — Authorities say two men have drowned after their paddle boat had a crack in the bottom and filled with water.

The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office told media outlets that a third man managed to swim to safety around noon Thursday.

The men were using the boat on a private pond south of Great Falls. The boat sank about 50 feet from shore.

The coroner identified the men killed as 26-year-old Freddie Boulware of Great Falls and 29-year-old Daniel Adams of Lancaster.
