The Azalea Festival Horse Show

The Azalea Festival Horse Show was this morning and it turned out to be a big day for Hailey Williams and her horse, Bingo, as she competed in her 10th Azalea Festival Horse Show.

Home sweet home

On Saturday Wendy James broke ground for her first house. It was a gift from Habitat for Humanity and New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she’s worked for the past twenty years.

Wright under extended lock-down

Prison officials brought Wright to Vanceboro just hours after he was found guilty of fraud. Wright pulled in to the Craven Correctional Institution after the judge handed him a six-to-eight-year sentence. The institution is a processing center for new inmates.

2008 Azalea Festival Queen crowned

videoBarbara Alyn Woods was crowned our 2008 Azalea Festival queen. The coronation drew a large crowd to Riverfront Park. Woods stars on the hit TV show “One Tree Hill,” which is filmed here in Wilmington.

Law enforcement aims for Azalea Festival safety

With all of the people taking part in the festival, law enforcement will be making its presence known. We can expect to see law enforcement officers on everything from boats to Segways to their own two feet — whatever it takes to keep their eye on the crowds.
