RALEIGH — The mayors of several of North Carolina’s largest cities have endorsed Democrat Beverly Perdue for governor, not fellow municipal leader Pat McCrory. Police take loaded gun from NC high school student

CHARLOTTE — Officials have seized a loaded .38-caliber pistol from a freshman at a Charlotte high school and charged the student with possessing a weapon on school grounds. NC prosecutor says no charges in children’s deaths

MANTEO, N.C. — A prosecutor says no criminal charges will be filed in the deaths of two Dare County children left in a car where temperatures reached 135 degrees in June.
