Little rain on parade to honor MLK
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Today is a day to remember and celebrate the man who raised awareness for social change, peace and justice.
Wilmington held its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade this afternoon. Though the weather wasn’t ideal, people lined Castle Street to watch the parade in honor of the slain civil rights leader.
Hundreds of people came out to celebrate together, but many say that would not be possible without Dr. King.
“He’s made people more aware of being together, being loving, and caring. That’s the main, important thing,” parade spectator Jim Brown said.
The parade included police, politicians, bands and community groups.
