Sex offender arrested at high school
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Deputies have charged a sex offender after he was found at a high school.
According to jail records, Christopher Jason Long, 31, is facing charges including habitual felon and sex offender on child premises. He was booked under a $300,000 bond.
Warrants show Long was arrested at North Brunswick High School and booked yesterday afternoon. When asked if Long went to the school to pick up either a student or faculty member, the sheriff’s office spokeswoman said he was not picking anyone up. There were no other details provided. A Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman has also been reached for comment.
According to information from the sex offender registry, Long was put on the sex offender registry following a 2009 conviction on charges of attempted indecent liberties with a minor. The victim was 13 at the time of the 2007 offense. His address is listed in Bolivia.
