Gallop for the Gravy offers pre-feast run for good cause
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An annual Thanksgiving tradition hit the pavement Thursday in Wilmington.
Hundreds of runners lined up at the YMCA for the 10th annual Gallop for the Gravy 5k.
Some athletes wore their favorite runners gear. Others dressed up as turkeys.
The race is a great way to burn off a few calories before dinner, while raising money for a good cause.
“It’s a good way to give back. It’s a great way to get out and get exercise. And we’re going to have a lot of turkey later,” said Tom Mathews.
All the proceeds from the race benefit three local charities: Full Belly Project, Nourish NC and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard.
Your reward for finishing the race? Homemade pie!
