Quiet departure for Henrietta III
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — As Azalea Festival guests streamed out of Wilmington, someone else was leaving by river — the Henrietta III.
After 16 years in the Cape Fear River, the replica steamboat started a trek to Troy, N.Y., Sunday. In the coming days her buyer, Jim Pledger, will steer her up the Intracoastal Waterway to Norfolk, Va., before taking her the rest of the way by sea.
Capt. Carl Marshburn of Cape Fear Riverboats, who’s operated sightseeing boats in the Port City since 1988, said he wasn’t expecting the boat to leave as suddenly as it did.
