Shooting victim dies four years later, man now charged with murder

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – A man currently serving at least two decades behind bars for a 2012 attempted murder is now charged with murder, after this victim died in November.

In August of 2012, Gregory Adams shot his neighbor, 15-year-old Ra’Quan Daniels, five times. The shooting left Daniels paralyzed from the neck down. An investigation determined Adams was high on PCP at the time.

A jury convicted Adams of the shooting in 2015.  A judge sentenced him to between 20 and 26 years behind bars.

Wilmington police spokeswoman Linda Rawley says Daniels died of complications due to his injures on November 3.

The district attorney’s office has now charged Adams with First Degree Murder.
