Victim in shooting near Campus Edge Condominiums identified
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The victim of Tuesday’s shooting at Campus Edge Condominiums, near UNCW, has been identified.
Wilmington Police spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay says 38-year-old Darnell Jermaine Hill of Wilmington was shot in the leg around 2 p.m. yesterday along the 400 block of Racine Drive. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
One witness who lives at Campus Edge says he saw two men fighting in a black SUV. The SUV drove forward and ended up hitting an AC Unit hard enough to push it into an apartment on the first floor. The driver then backed up and went through a fence by the dumpsters. The witness says he saw a person roll out of the car.
911 calls also described a fight between two men in a car.
“So they were fighting in the car, they were fighting in the car and then they ran up on the- ran up on the sidewalk here, with the dumpsters here. They was over there fighting,” one caller said.
There is no further information on the suspect at this time. The investigation is on-going.
