Wilmington man charged with murder after beating victim dies

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have charged a man with first degree murder after the beating victim died.

U.S. Marshals arrested Ronald Jerome Cromartie, 41, this afternoon at his home in the 1100 block of Wright St.

Police say Cromartie assaulted Austin Clarkson, Jr. on May 9.

Clarkson died on June 3 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing. Police say there may be more arrests.
