Pender mom accused of trying to drown kids appears in court
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The woman accused of trying to drown her young children in a bathtub on Wednesday appeared in Pender County court this morning.
Family members of Aeisha Milton were there and were very emotional as the 29-year-old faced the judge.
Milton faces four counts of attempted first degree murder, each count carries a sentence of up to 484 months behind bars.
Milton, who was also very emotional during her court appearance, received a court appointed attorney.
In the call made to 911 just before noon on Wednesday, an overwrought woman told the 911 operator she was the children’s grandmother and had stopped her daughter from trying to drown them.
The grandmother said she was locked in a bedroom with the four children.
One of Milton’s sisters, who is also the daughter of the 911 caller, later told WWAY that was not the case and instead, their mother dramatized what happened
The Pender County Sheriff’s Office says the children are between the ages of 10 months and three years old. The children were taken to Pender Memorial Hospital for observation before being released.
There will be a hearing on November 17 to determine where the four children will be placed. Milton asked for a home study to be done at the homes of two of her sisters so they would be able to take the children.
The judge placed Milton under a $1 million bond.
