Man charged in elderly woman’s assault banned from CFCC over peeping incident

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Just hours before a man allegedly assaulted and choked an elderly woman in downtown Wilmington, he peered over a stall in the women’s bathroom at Cape Fear Community College, according to a bulletin from CFCC Police.

The peeping incident happened on Thursday on the first floor of the S building.

Kevin Lamont Whiting, 28, is now permanently banned from the campus of Cape Fear Community College, a school spokeswoman confirms. CFCC Police say Whiting has previous assault on a female charges and should be considered a threat.

By Friday afternoon, Whiting was in police custody for another incident.

Wilmington Police say around 5:45 Friday morning, Whiting assaulted a woman who would not give him cash or cigarettes.

He’s in the New Hanover County jail under a $50,000 bond.
