Pender County man shot while walking, dies

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County man has died after a shooting in Burgaw.

According to Burgaw Police Chief Jim Hock, a man was shot while walking in the area of Satchwell and Bodenheimer streets around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Police said Rakeem Brown, 23, of Burgaw, died from his injuries at Pender Memorial Hospital.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Burgaw Police Department and speak with Detective Sergeant Fuller.

Burgaw Police said the investigation is ongoing.
