Man arrested in connection to gas, bank robberies

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The man accused of robbing a convenience store in Leland and then a bank in Wilmington within about a 12-hour span is now behind bars.

Wilmington Police say an officer spotted 35-year-old Elijah McFarland riding a bike in the 700 block of Church Street Friday morning.

He was reportedly wearing the same jeans.

He was arrested and placed under a $300,000 bond, which is half of that bond is for Thursday’s robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank, the other half is for Wednesday night’s Circle K robbery.
