Pruden lawsuit set to go to trial
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Superior Court has denied a request from former Brunswick County School Superintendent Edward Pruden to dismiss the lawsuit against him. That’s according to a spokesperson for the Roger Bacon Academy.
Pruden is being sued for slander by Baker Mitchell the founder of RBA, over Pruden’s criticism of Charter Schools. According to the spokesperson Mitchell and RBA allege that Pruden slandered them by maliciously publishing misrepresentations and false statements about both of the Plaintiffs to prevent the opening of the public and tuition-free South Brunswick Charter School near Southport.
Baker is seeking $100,000 in damages.
