Paddling the east coast in SUP-er fashion

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Two ladies who are stand up paddle boarding from New York to Key West made a stop in Wrightsville Beach Friday.

Julieta Gismondi and Louanne Harris are making the trip to raise money for the non-profit organizations Mission Blue and First Descents. They are calling themselves the “Atlantic SUP-er Girls”.
The Atlantic SUP-er Girls say it’s important for them to give back while they enjoy this adventure.

“Not only get something out of it for ourselves,” Julieta and Louanne agreed, “but make it more something for these organizations that are amazing, along the way and just do anything to help, I mean all the better, just makes it more worth it.”

The ladies are half way through their 13-hundred mile trip. They say they’ve been traveling for about 50 days and try to paddle about 20 miles a day. For more information on their journey and to donate to the cause, click here.
