Church delivers thousands of meals
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Pine Valley United Methodist Church is helping those in need, today, by delivering food around the community.
The church members have prepared enough food to feed nearly 5,000 people in the area said Paster Tim Reaves.
“We really are working hard to make sure that it gets to shelters, recovery houses, and to the homeless,” said Reaves. “We have actually had folks who have gone in to the woods to give plates to the homeless.”
George Hale’s wife started the outreach program ten years ago as a a way to give back, and to show their children what Christmas is all about. The church members go all around the community to deliver the food.
“We’d love to say ‘we’re cooking all this food, come see us’ but it’s more about taking it out and being a servant,” Hale said.
Services will be held at the church tonight at 8 and 11 p.m as well as a free community dinner at 6 p.m.
