Police search for suspects after shots fired during home break-in

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are searching for several suspects after a break-in lead to shots fired at a Wilmington home overnight.

Police said it happened at a home in the 200 block of Dixie Avenue. Officers said the suspects broke through the front door of the house, where two people were inside.

That’s when police said the victims and suspects began shooting at each other both inside and outside of the home. Police said they are likely looking for three suspects who got into a white vehicle and took off toward Wrightsville Avenue.

Police said they don’t believe anyone was hurt. They said the suspects got away with nothing.
