3-month investigation busts alleged meth dealers
NAKINA, NC (WWAY) — Investigators in Columbus County say a three-month investigation has landed two men behind bars accused of selling methamphetamine.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says a citizen’s complaint sparked the investigation that targeted a home at 2210 Poley Bridge Church Road near Nakina.
When deputies served a search warrant at the home, they say they seized several ounces of meth.
Investigators arrested Ronald Dale Ward, 62, who lives at the home, and Jesus Mendoza Espinoza, 48, of Clarendon.
Ward is charged with six counts of trafficking meth and one count of maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance. His bond is set at $65,000. Ward’s criminal record stretches back to 1988 and includes several convictions on drug charges.
Espinoza is charged with three counts of conspiring to traffic meth and one count of altering a gun serial number. His bond is $35,000.
