Former Deputy Director of NC Justice Academy faces prostitution charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – The former Deputy Director of the North Carolina Justice Academy has been arrested for soliciting prostitution.

Brunswick County Sheriff Deputies arrested Darrell Wayne Ayers, 55, yesterday.

Ayers retired from the NC Justice Academy in Salemburg on October 30.  In November, Ayers received “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.”  It is awarded to those who have shown exemplary service to the State of North Carolina and their communities.

Ayers is currently the Executive Director of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors.

His court date is in April.
